Maurice Sendak.
Currently listening to Maurice Sendak's interview on NPR's Fresh Air Podcast. The conversation is very painful. I feel my heart get crushed listening to the sorrow in his voice while talking about his present situation. I only regret that I was not introduced to his works at a young age. I hope it is not too late to start.

Why "Miss, I'm Gone" you ask? When I was a child and the musical Miss Saigon came out, I thought it said "miss, I'm gone". I soon realized that I was wrong, but the musical has been ingrained in my memory ever since because of the strong sense of nationalism it gave me then. And the title holds true for any nuoc ngoai living here. It doesn't matter how long you've lived here or how well you speak the language -- somehow you will always find yourself lost in the culture.
